“While they were there, the time came for Mary to have her baby. She gave birth to her firstborn child, a son, wrapped him snuggly, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” ~ Luke 2:6
Christmas greetings to all! Prayers are being sent forth as we enter into this busy, often chaotic season that you set aside time to pause, to breathe deeply of the Spirit, and to give space for the Spirit of Peace, Hope, Joy, and Love to be present. I pray that throughout this season of Advent, that you will join me in worship as we prepare our hearts and wait in active anticipation for the birth of God’s Love on earth. For God’s Love will be birthed this season in the humblest of spaces and in ways unexpected and holy. So be awake and ready!
Together, as a worshiping congregation, we will prepare our hearts with meditations on one of the most loved Christmas hymns, “Silent Night! Holy Night!” This year, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the debut of this beloved song. For many, this hymn has become the best-loved worship moment throughout the Church year. There is something mystical that occurs as we light our candles, taking the flame of the newly lit Christ candle, and together raise our voices and sing of the hope of “all is calm, all is bright” as we claim peace and light for ourselves and our world. If peace and light, if hope and joy, if love is what you long for ~ for yourself, for our world then come and join me this season of Advent and let the sacredness of this beloved hymn speak to the deep yearnings of your heart.
~ In Peace, Hope, Joy, and Love, Pastor Abby
